Copenhagen International School (CIS) is seeking a student-centred, collaborative, and internationally minded educator to join our Primary School team as a PYP Homeroom Teacher Cover.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a diverse international learning community while supporting continuity, consistency, and high-quality learning experiences for Primary School students.

The position is available at either 20% or 40% workload and may be particularly attractive to educators seeking flexibility, those returning to teaching, or teachers looking to combine the role with other professional commitments.

As a PYP Homeroom Teacher Cover, you will work in close partnership with permanent homeroom teachers to ensure students experience a seamless and engaging learning journey throughout the school week.

You will become an important part of our Primary School community while gaining valuable experience within an IB World School environment.

Depending on qualifications and school needs, this position may also be combined with other part-time teaching opportunities at CIS.

About the Role

The position supports permanent homeroom teachers who work reduced schedules.

Depending on the appointment, the role may be:

  • 20% workload (one day per week – Monday)

or

  • 40% workload (two days per week – Monday and Thursday)

Working closely with homeroom teachers and grade-level teams, you will:

  • Deliver planned learning experiences aligned with the grade-level curriculum and Units of Inquiry.
  • Follow established classroom routines, expectations, and learning plans.
  • Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Foster student agency, wellbeing, and belonging.
  • Collaborate closely with homeroom teachers to ensure continuity of learning and care.
  • Share relevant information regarding student progress, wellbeing, and learning.
  • Work collaboratively with specialist teachers, learning support staff, and leadership colleagues.
  • Contribute to a consistent and positive learning experience for students throughout the week.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Holds a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching in a primary school setting.
  • Has experience as a homeroom or classroom teacher.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Creates engaging, inclusive, and differentiated learning experiences.
  • Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with colleagues and families.
  • Demonstrates intercultural competence and a student-centred approach.
  • Is committed to inclusion, belonging, and student wellbeing.
  • Is flexible, reliable, and confident adapting to different classroom contexts.

Experience with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) or other inquiry-based programmes is an advantage.
