Copenhagen International School (CIS) is seeking a creative, student-centred, and internationally minded educator to join our Primary School team as a Creativity & Expression Teacher.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape meaningful learning experiences in drama, music, movement, and performance for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 within a diverse international school community.

This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about creativity, student agency, and helping children develop confidence, collaboration, and self-expression through the arts.

About the Opportunity

At CIS, we believe that creativity, expression, and the arts play an essential role in helping children understand themselves, connect with others, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

As Creativity & Expression Teacher, you will support students in exploring ideas, developing their voice, and engaging with the creative process through music, drama, movement, and performance.

You will work closely with homeroom teachers and specialist colleagues to create authentic learning experiences connected to the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and our commitment to inquiry-based learning.

This position may be combined with the part-time PYP Homeroom Teacher Cover position depending on qualifications and school needs.

About the Role

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Primary School, you will help create engaging, inclusive, and meaningful opportunities for students to perform, create, reflect, and belong.

You will:

  • Teach the current music and drama curriculum through an integrated Creativity & Expression programme across Pre-K to Grade 5.
  • Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate learning experiences that encourage creativity, confidence, and self-expression.
  • Collaborate with homeroom teachers to connect Creativity & Expression learning to Units of Inquiry and transdisciplinary themes.
  • Support students in developing communication, collaboration, self-management, and creative thinking skills.
  • Create inclusive participation structures so that all learners can contribute meaningfully.
  • Contribute to performances, celebrations, and school events where appropriate.
  • Use assessment practices aligned with the philosophy and practices of the IB Primary Years Programme.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure students experience engaging and meaningful learning opportunities.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Has experience teaching drama, music, movement, performing arts, or related creative disciplines with primary-aged learners.
  • Understands inquiry-based and student-centred learning.
  • Can create engaging and inclusive learning environments where students feel confident taking creative risks.
  • Values student agency and the creative process.
  • Has strong organisational and classroom management skills.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative and flexible approach to teaching and learning.
  • Is committed to inclusion, belonging, and student wellbeing.
  • Builds positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Experience with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) or other inquiry-based programmes is an advantage.

Why Join CIS?

At CIS, you will join an international team of educators committed to creating meaningful learning experiences for students from around the world.

We offer:

  • A diverse and international working environment.
  • A collaborative and supportive professional culture.
  • Opportunities for professional learning and growth.
  • A modern campus located in Copenhagen's Nordhavn district.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a school community that values inclusion, wellbeing, sustainability, and global citizenship.
